One Direction opened the 2015 BBC Music Awards on Thursday with a live performance of “Drag Me Down.” Watch below!

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan all walked the red carpet before taking the stage at the Genting Arena in Birmingham. Before the ceremony got underway, Styles tweeted, “At the BBC Music Awards. Thanks for having us, lovely spread you’ve put on.” The excitement only grew once the event officially kicked off.

As seen in the gif below, One Direction’s performance included a dazzling lights display and explosions of fireballs. The guys dropped “Drag Me Down” in July as the surprise first single from their Made In The A.M. album, which was released last month. They’ve performed it countless times now, but this marks one of the last before the group goes on hiatus in 2016.

Label mates Little Mix also performed at the BBC Music Awards, along with Hozier. Ellie Goulding, Mumford & Sons, Rod Stewart, and Omi were all slated to give performances, too. One Directon, of course, also performed at last year’s inaugural awards ceremony, where they were joined by then-band mate Zayn Malik.

Check out video of One Direction’s 2015 opening performance below, as well as a clip from the backstage interview!
