One Direction Launches New Action/1D Charity To Combat Climate Change And Poverty (VIDEO)
One Direction launched a new charity on Wednesday called Action/1D, designed to urge world leaders to make important decisions about climate change and poverty. The band announced the charity on Twitter, and also shared a video of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan explaining to fans that they need them to share their own videos and photos reaching out to world leaders. See One Direction’s video below.
“2015 is a year like no other and we want you to really make it count,” says Styles in the video, adding, “You guys are truly amazing and over the years you’ve shown us what you can achieve if you rally together.” He continues, “There are two historic summits in September and December. World leaders will make decisions that will affect important human issues like extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.”
Tomlinson then says the band wants its fans to come together and “take action, to raise our voice, to show we care.” He adds, “We can be part of something that actually makes a difference towards our future and helps people who need the support.” Horan notes, “You’ve shown us how incredible, passionate and creative you all are, and now we want to ask you to come together with us to make a change for the good.”
Payne concludes by asking fans to “put pressure on our leaders” by uploading videos and photos to the charity’s action1d.onedirectionmusic.com. “All you have to do is tell us what you want your world to look like in the future,” says Payne.
