One Direction Fans Wage Twitter Campaign To Stop Anna Todd’s Fan Fiction Novel
One Direction fans took to Twitter on Friday to blast writer Anna Todd for her upcoming fan fiction book “After,” which is based on the boy band members.
Todd originally released her characters’ adventures in 300 daily installments on the digital self-publishing site Wattpad, before Gallery Books offered her a six-figure advance to turn the stories into a novel.
“After” is about a college freshman named Tessa, whose world is turned upside down after she falls for a bad boy named “Harry.”
Although the amateur writer changed the names of the characters for her debut novel, 1D fans are still furious over her portrayal of the group and Harry Styles in particular.
On Friday, One Direction devotees unleashed a social media campaign to stop the release of book, using the trending hashtag #SuspendAnnaTodd.
“That girl who wrote After is not even a fan!” one follower tweeted. “Now she’s writing a disturbing sequel about Harry being abusive #SuspendAnnaTodd #StopAfter2k14.”
Another wrote, “Anna Todd is 25, has a husband and she’s writing sexual fanfiction about a boyband member”
