One Direction: “It’s Good For Pop Culture” Our Album Is Out Same Day As Justin Bieber’s (VIDEO)
As Gossip Cop has reported, it was revealed a while back that Bieber’s first album in three years, Purpose, would come out on this Friday, November 13. A while after, One Direction announced they, too, were dropping their new record, Made In The A.M., on that day. That immediately sparked the question: Whose album would ultimately reign supreme on the charts?
The last couple of months have seen both acts ramping up promotion, and Bieber and Louis Tomlinson even seemed to taunt each other with dueling videos in September. Interestingly, last Sunday, the Belieber and Directioner fan bases came together after a Walmart stocked the albums early. As Gossip Cop reported, the fandoms banded together to encourage would-be buyers to wait until the actual release date.
But now that the day is here, how does One Direction feel about the face-off? In a new interview with Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small for Australia’s Nova FM, Niall Horan argued, “I think it’s been kind of made into a little bit of a big deal, to be honest. As I’ve said a few times today, we’ve been up against like Rihanna before, and no one’s ever mentioned that.”
“It just happens to come up against Justin,” continued Horan. “It’s good for pop culture. It’s gonna be fine. We just hope people like our album, and we worry about the rest when it happens.” Check out the video below, and tell us what you think.
