One Direction: We’re Just As Insecure As Other Guys Our Age – WATCH VIDEO!
One Direction reveals that when it comes to girls, they are just as insecure as every other guy their age. The group also opened up on Thursday about their fans, new music, and rumors of Zayn Malik leaving the band during a special live appearance on the Australian news program “A Current Affair.”
Styles explained in the interview that despite their fame, they have the same struggles as regular guys. “I think that people imagine that if you’re in a band or something, you kind of lose all normal things,” he told host Tracy Grimshaw. “We still have every insecurity that ever other 19, 20, 21-year-old boy has.” Styles’ confession prompted an excited female fan to scream, “Don’t be insecure, we love you!” Styles then joked, “OK, that solves it then.”
The audience member’s proclamation was just one example of the massive amount of support One Direction receives on a daily basis. “I don’t think you can ever take a fan base like ours for granted,” said Malik. “What they have done for us is absolutely incredible, and we are nothing but thankful.” Styles said their fans also have a huge influence on their work ethic. “I think how amazing the fans have been is what drives us to do more,” he said. “Four albums in four years is a lot for a lot of people, and I think we feel like we just want to make more music for people every time because they show such incredible support.”
When Grimshaw noted that One Direction is a “man band” now that they chest and facial hair, the audience went wild. The guys playfully started ripping out pieces of their chest hair. Styles joked, “I’m just nipping at skin.” The band said their relationship is a normal one, and they do have the occasional argument. “The whole relationship between the band is a natural relationship,” explained Malik. “We try to keep it as normal as we can. And if we didn’t have arguments about some things, that wouldn’t be that normal. So we tell each other when we have problems with each other and we try to sort it out, and we normally sort it out.”
Malik went on to discuss feeling homesick during the group’s second tour and the rumors that he is getting tired of being in the band. He said he no longer struggles when he is away because it “does get easier.” He continued,” You get used to it, and you obviously embrace it and realize what is actually going on is an amazing thing and what we are doing is incredible. Obviously, It just took me a bit of a longer time to get used to it, and kind of adjust myself to it, but I feel good now.”
One Direction also answered audience questions and performed their songs “Steal My Girl” and “Night Changes” from their new album Four. Check out the videos below, and tell us what you think!
