I watched the show and did not even think that usa will be in the top 10 so it was really shocking to see her win especially with that mediocre answer and not so regal carriage. I was thinking that after the Q & A, it would be an easy win for Ms Philippines based on the answer she gave plus the way she carried herself. I heard it said many times, this pageant is just really all about politics and giving the country who wins, the boost it needs at times.

The judges does not read forums and blogs from the internet. They have limited time to scrutinize the delegates. This is why I think there are a handful of absolute diamond misses. Puerto Rico and South Africa for example.

I can’t agree with Miss Philippines all the way. You need to be beautiful too to become Miss Universe. The process they had to go through to represent their home country manifests that. Miss USA’s answer is VERY TRUE and we can all relate to. Very honest and very well deserved.

The last time Miss USA won was back in the 1990s who was from Hawaii, so look at the facts before you say this competition was rigged. Olivia gave a sincere and honest answer we can all relate to, and I can’t find anything to disagree on that. She won the crown because the judges have chosen her for being her.

No. All the other girls were robot beauty queens and frankly it’s freshening to see a contestant like Olivia who is the OPPOSITE of a pageant robot win this title. This is a normal girl. Pageants weren’t part of Olivia’s life growing up, her family, friends, and education were, and THAT’S someone who deserves to win because thats someone who has an actual head on her shoulders and cares more about what good she can do as Miss Universe than simply adding this win to another notch on her belt.

Her answer may not have been perfect, she may have stumbled a little while walking, but thats why she won. Because shes just an average college student from a small town in RI. A girl like Olivia is someone a wide variety of people can relate to, on almost a personal level, and on a level MUCH more genuine and sincere than one that any  of the other contestants possessed. 

She will be able to accomplish SO much good as Miss Universe because shes approachable, she can connect with people because she actually cares, not because it makes good publicity.  Her ambitions go far beyond simply winning this title.

I am from Brazil, and although I think Gabriela Markus was beautiful and represented us very well, I though Miss Phillipines was amazing, the one deserving to be Miss Universe. Sure they were all beautiful, gracious, after all. But I guess I was a little disappointed, cause for me Olivia lacks in posture, height, empathy and other things that Miss Phillipines and the others were presenting better.

People calm down. Miss USA won, we can’t do anything about it just accept it. The same thing happen in 2009 wen Venezuela won again, Everybody wanted Dominican Republic to win, but it didn’t happen so at the end everyone accepted the truth. There will be another competition next year and maybe, in this one your candidate would shine. :) So don’t fight people we all know who the winner is, but our opinions don’t matter because they already chose the winner.

Olivia answered it directly, sincerely and honestly. She did answer that the things she didn’t want to do anymore is picking on her siblings, but she doesn’t regret doing that because it was a learning experience and everyone else is doing it. Just giving some facts here: the most number of wins by any country for Miss Universe is USA, so don’t bullshit us with ‘USA NEVER WINS’. Also, 6 out of the 8 wins that USA won for Miss Universe was held in the US.

The presumption here is all the ladies are beautiful. All 88 of them are beautiful. To get to the last 5, certainly they are all beautiful. Now we need a winner, that’s why we have the Q&A — A DEFINING MOMENT for all the remaining contestants. Therefore based on the Q&A alone, Ms.Philippines NAILED her answer & should have WON the title. Ms. USA beat around the bush & gave a rather superficial answer. That is not to say that Ms. USA is superficial but for christ sake these are DEFINING MOMENTS in a contest. They practise & practise for this moment to clinch that final blow.

This contest is the hardest to win. In boxing, if your fighting on the opponents home court, you can knock him out cold & be declared the winner. Here in Ms. Universe, you already knocked out the opponent when Ms Philippines nailed her answer, only that the opponent still gets declared the Winner. duh.

Very true… there are criteria for judging to identify who the true winners are…. which mean over all presentation and packaging…. Philippines wasn’t the most beautiful contestant and just FYI neither miss USA, but they aren’t ugly (coz if they are they cant be competing for the pageant coz its beauty and brain) however what makes Miss Philippines standout among the 88 candidates is that she exude confidence, grace, poise and intelligence, in short she was the whole package. Her stage presence was truly remarkable. Everything about her that night was impeccable…. she truly deserved the crown more than anyone in the final 5….

Completely fixed competition. USA had next to no stage presence, tripped during evening gowns & lost her composure, and then stumbled over her judges question after looking completely clueless. Furthermore she was not genuine, along with penciled eyebrows etc. USA win was a slap in the face to the Philippines and the other girls who performed better. I’m an American and I am ashamed of Trumps farce of a pageant.

I agree with you. Miss Philippines was definitely the strongest in the final 5, taking into account SS, EG and the final Q&A. That is my opinion, but we cannot ignore that everything is subjective, and it is the judges’ opinion that matters on that night. So i hope we can all just move on and get over with.

dont know if politics is involved here but bcoz miss usa is very popular among the MU Org esp everywhere they go to promote the pageant it’s prob one reason she won. the fact that it was held in the US soil too…but let bygones be bygones it’s just a beauty pageant. and hey life is never fair so just move on and continue doing other sensible things.

I am a Filipino.. And God knows how I wanted Janine (Miss Philippines) to win the crown. It’s been 39 years since the second Filipina brought the crown to Philippines. It’s true that she desereves the crown more than anyone in the pageant, she gave the best answer out of the top 5 finalists but Internecine2012 also made a point that we are not part of the judges and this is the judges’ opinion infact we all have our own opinion so let’s just respect that. To all the people who thinks that the results was made even before the finals, well tough luck… Philippines wasn’t the favorite this year and we just have to suck it up..
