OK! Apologizes To Jennifer Lawrence After Gossip Cop Busts Tab For Fake Proposal
Jennifer Lawrence has received an apology from OK! after the ironically titled tabloid printed a story claiming her boyfriend Nicholas Hoult “proposed to the 23-year-old actress on Christmas Eve at her family’s home in Kentucky.” The magazine writes in its current issue that it has “learned that Nicholas was back in his native England during the holidays,” adding, “We apologize for the error.”
Of course, the tabloid could have “learned” a heck of a lot sooner had it consulted Gossip Cop, which was the first outlet to report there was not a word of truth to the publication’s claim that Lawrence was engaged to Hoult. We also previously pointed out when the tabloid wrongly reported in November that Lawrence was engaged and planning a wedding to Hoult, and was about to have a baby.
A spokeswoman for Lawrence said in a statement on Wednesday that OK! “recklessly published” its stories “without ever checking with a representative of Lawrence or Hoult.” What’s equally galling to Gossip Cop is that in its apology, OK! tries to misdirect its readers with the headline, “Jennifer & Nicholas Still So In Love” (see below), rather than “We Are Sorry” or “We Were Wrong.” Also, see Gossip Cop’s original bust below.
