Obamas Meet William and Kate at Palace

President Obama and Michelle Obama met William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today at Buckingham Palace.

The Obamas spent approximately 20 minutes chatting with the newlyweds, who have just returned from their honeymoon. The atmosphere was described as “relaxed.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip gave the Obamas a tour of the Palace upon their arrival, and the Scots Guards played the American national anthem.

The Queen will host the President and Mrs. Obama at a state banquet on Tuesday night.

The President and the First Lady will spend two nights at Buckingham Palace, staying in the six-room suite last used by William and Catherine on their wedding night.

The Obamas’ visit comes less than a month after the royals wed in front of a worldwide audience.

    didn’t even know Obama left the country….again… nice they get to stay at buckingham palace, I never even thought where any dignitary stays here … or oversees…. Just hope that Michelle Obama remembers that the Queen is not supposed to be ‘touched’ by anyone this time.. any news on whether they ‘gave’ a wedding gift to one of the charities?

    I think the opening part of Obama’s speech to both Houses of Parliament was very witty with the reference to Pope Benedict XVI, Nelson Mandela and Queen Elizabeth II being “either a very high bar or the beginning of a very funny joke”. It is true that the special relationship has had a strained beginning with the incidents over tea and tax in the 1700s and burning the White House in 1812, but since then, as Obama stated, “it has been smooth sailing since”.

    The Queen’s present from the Obamas was a collection of rare memorabilia and photographs in a handmade leather bound album telling the tale of the visit of her parents – King George VI and Queen Elizabeth – to the United States in 1939.

    Aware no doubt that they had recently asked for donations to charity in lieu of wedding gifts, the Obamas presented the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with six MacBook Notebook computers donated to their chosen charity, Peace Players International in Belfast.

    Green-fingered Charles, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were presented with a selection of plants, seedlings and seeds from the gardens of Mount Vernon, Monticello and the South Lawn of The White House, as well as jars of honey from The White House beehive.

    Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a fan of carriage driving, that well known sport much beloved of the Duke of Beaufort, received a custom-made set of Fell Pony shanks, each adorned with the Presidential Seal, in addition to original horseshoes worn by recently retired champion carriage horse Jamaica.

    No CDs were given to the Queen, so please get your facts right before you type. Also the Queen is not racist at all and is an offence to a monarch who has been the core of the British people since she was crowned in 1952. If you wish to make such inaccurate and offensive statements then please do so to yourself and not to those of us who support the Royal family.
