President Obama: I Support Gay Marriage

VIDEO

(ABC News)

President Obama has announced his support for same-sex marriage.

“I’ve concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama tells Robin Roberts of ABC News in an interview that will air in full on Thursday’s “Good Morning America.”

Obama is the first President to back gay marriage publicly.

In the past, he has described his changing personal attitude on the matter as an “evolution.”

On Tuesday, North Carolina voted for a constitutional amendment, banning same-sex marriages in the state, prompting a slew of celebrities to sound off on Twitter.

Thanks Mr. Obama for destroying America just a little more! Makes me so proud to know I live in a country where the most important thing these days is giving the gays rights, when we shit on our service men and women. Why not improve the care of our vets BEFORE giving gays a right to marry? Yeah yeah yeah… let the nasty hate filled comments and flaming begin. Like the best comment ever said… opinions are like assholes… everybody has one. So this is mine.

Why thank you for your lovely and highly anticipated comment! I knew that what I said would indeed bring out the best in all who took the time to read it. To think you took time out of your busy schedule to leave me such a lovely and wonderfully stated comment ranks up there as one of the highest moments in my life! I am sure your parents are so proud of you, and I am sure that if Mr. Obama saw this, he too would be so happy to know that those lovely words you typed so eloquently was in support of his decision to support gay marriage. Bravo jojo, bravo.

    Get help you useless bigot.

I support gay marriage, as I believe that two people, regardless of their sexual orientation, have the right to marry the person they love. To think, your wonderfully stated comment ranks as one of the lowest moments in my life! I do not know your parents, so I cannot attest as to whether they are proud of you or not, but I can say that as a fellow American (I am going on the assumption that you, in fact, are American), I am disgusted by you. May I ask, how does gay marriage personally affect you? This country was founded on the belief that all men are created equal and that we hold this truth to be self-evident. All men. The Declaration of Independence doesn’t state “All men, with the exception of members of the LGBT community.”

In all of the rush to either support the announcement or denigrate the President for making it, the simple truth of why he made it has been ignored… The President said, “I, now support Gay Marriage!” Read: “I am losing ground to Romney in the polls, people are tired of my message of bullshit, so I need to turn the attention away from my failures…I will now say I support Gay Marriage….yeah, that’s the ticket!” More bullshit from the consummate bullshit slinger, Barry Hussein…

If you really must know, I am the proud daughter of a gay partnership. My fathers both served in the military and when my biological father came home from Iraq after being wounded by an IAD (loosing his leg in the process), he went to a VA hospital and promptly got an infection from the dirty place. My father and I laid him to rest with full military honors 3 years ago. So I kinda know what I am talking about… all we wanted was for my fathers to be married and share the same as a “real” married couple. Thanks to the poor conditions at the hospital my father was treated, my other father is now a broken man with no benefits to help him. So you can all kiss my proud American … bigot? I think not. Disgusting? Nope. Just upset that Mr. Obama refuses to take a stand on the welfare of our returning heroes, but loves to as higglty put it… wants to garner votes because he is losing.

Your are full of shit…no one believes your fake sob story. You are a bigot, plain and simple. Go back to your nazi rally, jagoff.

    I don’t quite believe your story…
    1. Obama acknowledging what he believes in with respect to equality of marriage, an idea that he admits has been evolving the past few years for him, should have been a big step in the right direction for you, and reinforced your feelings that both your fathers should have had the right to marry.
    2. VA hospitals aren’t the only hospitals that are disgusting. There are many others that are gross. Yes, the welfare of our returning heroes should be increased. They fight and are injured, and in the most horrific cases – die, for our country, and that demands respect. However, your father dying due to poor conditions in the hospital isn’t necessarily the president’s fault – that is on the hospital. Besides (and correct me if I’m wrong), hasn’t this been a problem for a long time? If you want to place blame with the presidency, then Obama wouldn’t be the only one to place the blame on.
    3. I didn’t call you a bigot.
    4. It may be to garner votes, but I truly think that this is what he truly believes in. Like I said above, this is something that has evolved for him. Furthermore, do you honestly think a Republican president is going to actually come out (no pun intended) and say that he/she supports gay marriage? Do you think that gay people stand a bigger and better chance of achieving equality in marriage with Romney? He doesn’t think that gay people deserve the right of marriage OR civil unions.
I swear, it is like every presidential election people get this weird short-term memory disorder, in which they forget what the country/president was like before the incumbent president took office. Obama inherited a lot of problems from his predecessors.

  • Prove It Obama

Regardless of which side any of us find ourselves on as Americans, President Obama is making his loyalty known during an election year. How long does it take to speak the words “I support love and equality for all Americans”? Somehow I managed to type those words in under three years, why couldn’t Obama? Is this really a step in the right direction or just another election year ploy to garner support and trust from a group of American people that should’v'e had support from him back in the first moments of his run? I’m not convinced.
