Nyle DiMarco Nabs Highest Score On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ (VIDEO)
Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd got the highest score of the night, dancing a tango to Owl City and Aloe Blacc’s “Verge” on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars.” Their routine got them a standing ovation on the “Most Memorable Year”-themed show. Watch the video below.
DiMarco said the most memorable year was 2012, because it was “the year I traveled the world” all by himself, without an interpreter. He noted he comes from a family that’s four generations of deaf people, and “I needed to get away to know myself.” DiMarco added that he’s “not sure where my fearlessness comes from,” but he’s happy that he has it.
As Gossip Cop reported, the crowd favorite received mixed reviews for his rumba last week on “Latin Night.” While Carrie Ann Inaba thought it was “stunning,” Len Goodman called the dance “too hectic.” For their routine, DiMarco and Murgatroyd received a 20 out of 30 points. During the show’s premiere, DiMarco, who’s completely deaf and can’t even hear the music, impressed all with his cha cha cha to DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean.”
But he was back in full force this week with his tango. Bruno Tonioli felt, “That is was I was waiting for… It was a breathtaking tango.” Inaba noted, it was perfect and called him “Superman.” And Goodman said DiMarco proved “anyone can do anything, if they want to.”
