Nyle DiMarco ‘Access Hollywood’ Video: I ‘Deserved’ To Win ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Nyle DiMarco reflected on his “Dancing with the Stars” journey and the impact of his win on Thursday’s “Access Hollywood Live.” Watch below!
“It was really shocking,” DiMarco said of Tuesday’s victory. “Obviously, you know, we really came a long way. I worked hard. I felt like I deserved it, but I didn’t know if they would ever crown me the winner. And when they called my name, I just couldn’t believe it. I just went with the excitement. I’m still on cloud nine.”
DiMarco’s mom now thinks “22” is his lucky number since that was his winning “America’s Next Top Model” season and now his “DWTS” season, too. But this new accomplishment seems to be affecting him more. “This was more emotional because it involved a lot of physical and mental challenges. You know, we rehearsed seven days a week. We didn’t have any breaks,” said the rising star.
He continued, “And plus, you develop that relationship, like I did with Peta [Murgatroyd], and by the end of that three months, I just felt like, ‘I don’t want this to end!’ I was really enjoying this, and I love Peta as well, so I just felt heartbroken at the same time.”
As for how DiMarco’s run on the show has affected the deaf community, he argued, “It goes above me, and not often is it that a deaf person can take the chance to do this. And ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ they have a huge platform as well.”
“I’m more than happy to take on that responsibility of raising that awareness,” he went on to say, “and that’s one of the reasons I set up my foundation, the Nyle DiMarco Foundation, and with my celebrity status, I think I can do more through my foundation.” Check out the full interview below!
