Kim Kardashian Slammed By PETA After Dressing North West In Fur (PHOTO)
Kim Kardashian got slammed by the animal rights group PETA after she stepped out on Wednesday with her two-year-old-daughter North West, who was dressed in a fur coat (see right). After photos emerged of the little girl in a fox fur jacket, estimated to cost around $3,500, PETA’s senior vice president Lisa Lange, said in a statement, “Kids are naturally drawn to animals and sympathetic to their plight, and there’s no reason to think that North is any different.” She continued: “If the fur coat that she’s been dressed in is real, animals have suffered for vanity, something that we’re sure neither North nor any little girl her age would support.” A number of people also took to social media to express their outrage over North in a fur coat.
North West and Kardashian, who was also wearing a fur, were photographed in their animal skins as they left a New York Fashion Week party for Kanye West’s Adidas sneakers. This is not the first time Kardashian has dressed North in a fur. The reality star posted a picture to Instagram of her daughter in a black fur back in November.
Nor is this the first time Kardashian has been caught in the crosshairs of animal rights activists. She famously got flour bombed in 2012 while wearing a fur coat to the L.A. launch party for her fragrance True Reflection. While PETA denied orchestrating the attack, the group later voiced its support for the perpetrator. What do you think about Kardashian dressing North in a fur coat? And do you agree or disagree with the backlash she has received?
Editor’s Note: Gossip Cop generally does not post photos of celebrity children, but has made an exception for this picture posted to Instagram by Rob Kardashian, given that his sister clearly dressed up her daughter knowing there would be photographers at her husband’s fashion show, and that PETA specifically based its newsworthy response on this image.
