Happy birthday, North West! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s adorable daughter turns 4 years old on Thursday. Barely out of her toddler stage, the little one has already been a tabloid target since birth. In honor of her special day, Gossip Cop is taking a look back at some of the rumors we exclusively “blew out” about North in the last year, just like we did for little brother Saint West on his 1st birthday in December.

1. On the very day North turned 3 last year, Life & Style published a story claiming she had very own glam squad, including a “wardrobe stylist, hairstylist and manicurist to doll her up every day.” The tabloid alleged the primping help cost a whopping $5,000 a week, and estimated her clothing collection was worth $1 million. Again, at the time that story came out, North was 3! Glamorous mama Kardashian does enjoy dressing her mini-me up on occasion, but not as the gossip magazine described. A rep confirmed the tale was both “ridiculous” and “absolutely false.” And Kardashian later revealed most of North’s clothing comes from fabric picked out at stores.

2. One month later, OK! accused Kardashian and West of giving their daughter “little time to play.” After a Snapchat photo of North getting a violin lesson circulated, the tabloid claimed “little Nori is doing too much.” Picking up misinformation from sister outlet RadarOnline, the publication asserted she had “several activities on her plate, including ballet, tap dancing, origami lessons, fencing, soccer, karate, and French classes.” Yet there’s
been no evidence North is involved with most of those things. She’s typically seen doing what the magazine wrongly insisted she doesn’t get time to do: Play.

3. In September, RadarOnline alleged Kardashian and West were “at war” over North going to school. A purported “source” for the webloid said the Kardashian family thought “it is in her best interests to not be in school, but Kanye is extremely upset about this because he wants his kids to have top-of-the line education.” Readers were asked, “Do you think that North West should be in Pre-K?” Of course, it wasn’t the public’s business whether she’s formally educated in a brick-and-mortar school or taught at home. That was followed days later by the site’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, claiming the famous parents were “auditioning pals” for their daughter. As a rep bluntly said all these claims were “absurd.”

4. Another absurd rumor pit North against one of the only other celebrity children as famous as she is: Blue Ivy. In the wake of West calling out Jay Z at an October concert, OK! blared on its website, “Kanye West Starts Epic Feud Between NORTH & Blue Ivy After Ruthless Bashing Of Jay Z.” The rapper was accused of having North follow in his rant-prone footsteps after he “initiated a feud between his young daughter and Jay Z’s little girl.” At the time this ridiculousness was published, North was 3 and Blue Ivy was 4. They were likely completely unaware of what was going on with their famous fathers. There was no “feud” between them and they were not actually involved in the grown-up dispute in any way.

5. One subject that popped up a few times over the last 12 months was whether North was on her way to becoming a star in her own right. In November, the National Enquirer alleged family matriarch Kris Jenner viewed her granddaughter as Kardashian’s successor, and wanted to make her the “future of the franchise.” Days later, the supermarket tabloid’s sister publication, Star, contended Jenner had a “master plan underway” to replace her daughter with North on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Fast-forward to April, when the National Enquirer had a new story asserting Jenner and Kardashian were now fighting over the little girl becoming a child star. But a spokesperson said each of the articles was “not true” and “false.”

And to date, there’s been no indication that North is embarking on a career of her own. Sadly, that hasn’t stopped the gossip media from using her to sell magazines and score clicks. North may be part of an insanely famous clan, but she deserves to be treated with decency and accuracy, just like any other innocent child. As such, Gossip Cop will continue to call out these untrue stories about her as needed. For now, we just wish North a rumor-free birthday.
