Nolan Neal and Johnny Rez went head to head during “The Voice” Battles on Monday. Watch below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Neal wowed with “Tiny Dancer” during his Blind Audition, moving all four coaches to turn around. What made it especially amazing, though, was that the aspiring star failed to get any of the panelists to hit their button when he tried out for season 10, which aired earlier this year. His decision to come back for season 11 more than paid off, and he chose to join Team Adam, as Levine predicted, “You’re going to be the first guy to go home last season and then win this season.”

But first, Neal had to make it through the second phase of the music competition. For this round, Levine selected Rez to join Neal for a performance of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer.” During a mentoring session with guest adviser Sammy Hagar, both artists were encouraged to stop singing and instead “profess” the lyrics like Gabriel himself would.

After the big duet, Blake Shelton said, “That was a very evenly-matched battle.” He credited Rez, however, for holding his own with Neal, while Alicia Keys favored the four-chair frontrunner. But Miley Cyrus said, “I think I might have to agree with Blake for Johnny.”

And Levine noted, “Choosing one or the other doesn’t seem fair when both deserve to be rewarded.” But he decided to move forward with “the person I feel most connected to.” And that was Neal. Check out the video below!
