Noel Gallagher believes One Direction only has “five years left.” The controversial musician made the remark in an interview with James Corden on the “Late Late Show” Monday. Watch the video below.

During the sit-down, the former Oasis singer was incredulous that Zayn Malik left One Direction, when, in his opinion, the band only has a short period left of pop music relevance. “I can’t understand why he would do it because they’ve only got, at most, five years left,” Gallagher said. He went on to say of Malik, “Just stand in the back, smoke weed, get laid, just pick the check up! But he should get himself a good accountant.”

As Gossip Cop previously reported, last month Gallagher called Malik a “f*cking idiot” for quitting in an interview with Rolling Stone. And back in 2013, the rocker slammed One Direction for making “banal pop music,” adding “Bless ’em. Bless ’em, but f*ck ’em at the same time.” Despite Gallagher’s derogatory comments about the band, Liam Payne recently performed an Oasis song while on vacation, as Gossip Cop shared, and also said the band’s upcoming songs were going to be “a bit Oasis-y” in sound.
