Are Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder engaged?

That’s what Perez Hilton thinks.

Reviewing pictures of Dobrev from a Christian Dior event on Wednesday, the blogger discovered “a mysterious gold ring on her left hand!”

He declares, “It can only mean one thing… SHE’S ENGAGED TO IAN SOMERHALDER!!!”

Among the bits of “evidence” Perez cites are the fact that it was Dobrev’s birthday, and her “ginormous smile… the kind you get when someone proposes!”

Boy, that’s rock solid detective work.

Unfortunately, Perez is 100 percent WRONG.

A rep for Dobrev tells Gossip Cop the engagement report is “totally untrue.”

    Ian and Nina are the typical young celebrities “non really couple” who fans love them to be together and think that they are super in love when the reality is that for these two what matters is their career and NIAN is part of it. Ian is no way in love with this girl but both know that until this show is on air they will have to deal with it, everything for the fans. They are friends true, but who knows them know that there is really no love there (love in a romantic way). And everybody will see that when TVD is over and both will be finally free and these two will go separate ways. And you will see the difference when Ian is in love and when he is not.

    Shangai for work and I wouldn´t say that it was a romantic holidays because they were there with people. It´s been a long time since they were really alone. That they started as more than friends?? I can buy that, but their relationship hasn´t been more than that. But fans know nothing deep down. And the saddest thing that all these engaged rumours were created by fans, because they want them to get married and the reality is so different. Nina and Ian´s family know that.

    This is just Nina adding fire to the engagement rumors that the fans themselves concocted and Nian are just playing into it. Nothing to take seriously, besides she was drunk, so that might play a part in why she was acting like that flashing around the ‘ring’. It isn’t even an engagement ring.

    Nian is just contrived at this moment. They are a business arrangement.

    I don’t know what to believe regarding Nina Dobrev and Ian Someerhalder since there are different reports in the comments here. I just know I discovered who he is through my 20 something niece crush on him. I wonder how many starstruck female fans will be sorely disappointed if the actor really does became engaged.

    They are in a real relationship. See them at the recent Celebrity Beach Bowl. It’s ridiculous that all these people who have crushes on Ian, someone they’ll likely never meet for more than a few minutes if they a photo op. It’s crazy to wish a hot guy would be eternally single (and maybe miserable) so that you can build hopes of one day stealing him away. Let him be happy and find someone that is attainable to love.
