Nicole Scherzinger Twitter Hacked
Nicole Scherzinger seemingly became the latest celebrity hacking victim on Tuesday when her Twitter was hacked. See screengrab below.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Eastern Time, a tweet was sent from “@NicoleScherzy” reading, “I am so beautiful.” That was followed by, “I really am.” A third message stated, “I want to eat some mango. Now.”
Then, about 15 minutes later, yet another tweet appeared on Scherzinger’s feed, this one stating, “I. DEMAND YOU TELL ME I AM GORGEOUS.” While fans quickly obliged, most realized that it was not the singer firing off the self-centered messages. Gossip Cop reached out to Scherzinger’s rep to alert them of the security breach.
As Gossip Cop has reported, a number of celebrities have seen their Twitter accounts hacked in recent weeks. It started with Katy Perry at the end of May, followed by Kylie Jenner, Tenacious D, and Drake. Others who have had tweets sent from their handle by impostors lately include the NFL, Lana del Rey, Cody Simpson, Keith Richards, Chelsea Handler, and Bon Iver.
Most disturbingly, the Twitter account belonging to the late Christina Grimmie was hacked last Saturday, just hours after her murder. It’s unclear how many of the hackings are actually connected, and who is the culprit. Twitter has not commented except to recommend password changes.
And just before this story was published, the tweets in question were deleted from Scherzinger’s account. Check out the screengrab below. UPDATE: A rep for Scherzinger tells Gossip Cop, “She wasn’t hacked, but her phone was compromised.” Indeed, the star sent out a tweet blaming “X Factor UK” co-star Simon Cowell. See below.
