Nicole Kidman in ELLE: I Wish I Were Pregnant!
Nicole Kidman has babies on the brain, even if she doesn’t wind up having another child. In a new cover interview with ELLE, the Oscar winner echoes some of her recent comments about having a desire to get pregnant again at age 47.
The topic comes up when Kidman notices her interviewer is expecting a baby. “Oh my gosh, you are so lucky,” she tells the reporter. “Is this your first?” When the 38-year-old ELLE writer says that it might be her only pregnancy due to her “advanced maternal age,” Kidman says, “I had my last one at 43. My grandmother had her last at 49. Every month, I’m like, ‘I hope I’m pregnant!’”
When Kidman’s publicist asks for her comment to be off-the-record, the actress says, “‘Off the record’? I don’t mind! Why not, right? I wish I was!”
Elsewhere in the chat, the star talks about her decision to marry Keith Urban after less than a month of dating. Kidman explains, “I’m spontaneous. I jump in. I kind of like getting married and then getting to know each other; I know that it sounds incredibly strange, but to me, it’s a more natural process.”
She also clears up a misconception about the end of her marriage to ex-husband Tom Cruise, with whom she starred in Eyes Wide Shut before they called it quits. Kidman says their experience with director Stanley Kubrick was great, and that the long, drawn-out production had nothing to do with their eventual breakup. She says, “We loved it. Everyone thought that was when our marriage started to break down—not at all. That movie was a great part of our life together, and I’m glad we have it.” What do you think of what Kidman has to say?
