Nicolas Cage Split Caused Him To Pull Out Of Directing Movie?
Nicolas Cage’s split from wife Alice Kim was NOT the reason he pulled out of directing an upcoming movie, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We’re told it’s not true.
Cage was supposed to direct the new thriller, Vengeance: A Love Story, but stepped down from helming the project. Star is now falsely claiming the actor’s departure was a result of him spiraling out of control over his separation from Kim. A so-called “on-set insider” tells the magazine, “Shortly after production began, Nic started showing up reeking of cigarettes and looking like he’d been drinking all night.” The outlet’s dubious source adds, “He was overweight, his hair was falling out and he looked terrible. It was a total s**t show.”
Stunt coordinator Johnny Martin ended up taking the director’s chair. The publication goes on to wrongly report it was the producers’ decision to replace Cage, and not his own. But this isn’t what happened.
In reality, production on the film was delayed due to financing issues, which created a scheduling conflict for Cage. The actor simply didn’t have enough time to handle directing duties, though he’s still starring in the film. If the actor’s on-set behavior was really an issue, it’s doubtful producers would fire him as a director, but still allow him to headline the project.
Regardless of the outlet’s story making little sense, Gossip Cop is told by a source close to the production that scheduling conflicts were the sole reason that Cage pulled out of directing the movie. We’re further assured the actor was nothing but professional during filming, and the allegations otherwise are simply not true.
