WATCH: Nicki Minaj Performs Mashup Of “Only” & “All Things Go” On SNL (VIDEO)
Nicki Minaj sang a mashup up of “Only” and “All Things Go” for her second musical performance on “SNL” (video below). For her first performance, she sang “Bed Of Lies” with Skylar Grey.
Minaj recently released the song “All Things Go,” and it’s a real heartbreaker. The song deals with Minaj’s failed engagement, her regrets over her cousin’s senseless and violent death, and an abortion she had more than a decade ago. In “All Things Go,” Minaj, who was around 15 when she got pregnant, sings, “Life is a movie, but there will never be a sequel. And I’m good with that, as long as I’m peaceful. As long as seven years from now, I’m taking my daughter to preschool.”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, the animated video for “Only,” which features vocals from Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, was condemned for evoking Nazi imagery, such as Minaj’s cartoon likeness appearing as a dictator in front of a throng of soldiers wearing red arm bands similar to those of SS officers. The video also shows gas masks and an interlocking Y-M symbol (for the record label Young Money) that has rightfully drawn comparisons to swastikas. In a series of tweets following the release of the video, Minaj apologized, writing, “I didn’t come up w/the concept, but I’m very sorry & take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I’d never condone Nazism in my art.” Both “Only” and “All Things Go” are off Minaj’s upcoming album “The Pinkprint,” set for release on December 15.
