Nicki Minaj bailed her on her highly-promoted Summer Jam performance on Sunday after one of the event’s emcees dissed her earlier in the show.

Minaj was scheduled to headline Hot 97’s annual event in New Jersey, even hyping up her appearance on Twitter hours before she was slated to take the stage.

That was until Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg told the crowd, “I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now. F**k that bulls**t. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop s**t.”

When Lil Wayne — the head of Minaj’s Young Money label — heard of Rosenberg’s diss, he pulled the plug.

“Wow. U ni**az just f**ked up history. But the President has spoken,” Minaj tweeted after the decision was made to back out of the performance.

Minaj, who hinted that she had quite the show planned, added, “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”

She also sent out thanks to “the staff @ philly & boston summer jams for treating their guests w/respect! Had a blast.”

Other Young Money artists, including DJ Khaled and Busta Rhymes, who were also slated to appear, similarly bailed on their performances.

Childish on Wayne’s part. Not everyone is going to like your music. Yeah, It was unprofessional for the host to just diss her music like that, but he was just stating the truth. Starships is NOT even hip hop. Just suck it up and perform for people who really are fans of your music. I thought they didn’t let ‘haters’ get to them…

I agree and disagree at the same time. Disagree because it shouldn’t matter what one person has to say. You are there for the fans she isn’t playing to a room of one. Agree because why would you say that stuff when a performer is about to go on? Where is your head at? So instead of having a smooth awesome concert 3 people dropped out which probably chopped up the concert schedule. It was a totally let for fans.

Wow. Way to go. I do not think a HOST of a show really should say this sort of things. It will ruin his reputation. If he is going on like, no celebrity will attend his show anymore.

  • cinchi

While the host should not have dissed Minaj’s music (if he didn’t like it, why invite her to be part of the show?), bailing on the performance was totally unprofessional on Lil Wayne’s part. I understand Minaj, she was following the decision of the head of her record label so I don’t fault her, but I do Lil Wayne. He should have talked to the host and requested an apology or better yet, a great introduction later when Minaj took the stage, even dissed the host on Twitter, but you don’t bail. Fans paid good money for that performance and aren’t getting a refund and were left disappointed. It’s not how you keep fans or gain new ones.

  • SweetMangos

Well while everyone may not agree on music preference its just stupid to diss someone who is about to perform for your company and whats worst is nicki minaj is one of the biggest artist out right now hate it or love it! Isnt she providing his paycheck lol! Fire Him!

The title of this article is very misleading. It makes it seem as though Nicki got her feelings hurt and cancelled everything. It was Lil Wayne’s decision to pull the plug and Nicki has always said that she respects Wayne’s word, no matter what. She was going to go through with the show regardless, you can’t fault her for something she had no control over.

And no, I’m not a Nicki stan in the least, I just like to review facts and the title was not factual.

I personally cant stand Nicki Minaj, but this title is a bit misleading. That was plain immature on Wayne’s part, but at the same time, she has to accpet that not everyone is going to like her music. She cant just bail because certain people dont like her. She made a commitment and the right thing to do would’ve been to stick to it.

  • Nick

It’s true not everyone is going to like ANYONE’S music. But Wayne was reacting to the disrespect. That is unacceptable professionally for them to diss her like that and then parade them out on stage for a show. It’s not an award show, it’s not a comedy act, it’s a concert. I think that it sucks for the fans and they should blast the idiot that couldn’t express his opinion in a respectful manner. YM and Wayne did the right thing all the way. Peace out, bitches

  • Me

Unprofessional is an understatement. But karma will get them.

  • Nick

Not performing a service for someone who has shown disrespect is a completely different thing than letting haters get to you. If you went to work and a colleague was permitted to attempt to humiliate you and then parade you in front of an audience like a ignorant monkey for their own benefit, I’d be surprised if you didn’t walk out as well.

  • Tim

Since this guy seems to hate her music so much, what better way to stick it to him than to go on and perform? I don’t agree with Wayne’s decision to back out, but I understand where he’s coming from. Ultimately what will probably happen is the MC will get fired because the fans will probably be beyond pissed at wasting their money and by those performers not going on, the whole situation is a lose-lose.

  • palindrome82

The only sad thing is that the fans miss out. Rosenburg was on some real fried mess. He was out of pocket. He could have waited till the next day to start running his mouth. If YMCMB wanted to make it up to the fans they’d throw a concert (free) for those people who missed out at Summer Jam.

  • Nick

Agree with you about the free concert. It isn’t the fans fault.

  • EC

he’s trying to get his 15 mins of fame that f*****

Nicki doesn’t deserve this kind of shit

Does it even need to be said that 1) wanna be gangstas suck and 2) so does hip hop?

  • Whatever

Eh, I would prove that disrespectful colleague wrong. That’s just how I am. I like to prove people wrong. I’m sure Nicki would have known how to handle that DJ. It just sucks that the fans had to miss out because a DJ said a few things.

  • Nick

    I’m sure you’re the exception

So they let their temper and their ego get the best of them and penalized the fans (you know, the people that were actually there to see her?).

  • Wanaway2it

first of all her music is garbage she was a pig to pull out of a concert at the last minute her fans who bought tickets to her crap show who scrapped together money to see her is unprofessional on her part and lil troll looking Wayne not everyone will like your music and Nikki you are not hip hop your a novelty your working on your fourteen minutes of fame
