The 2012 Grammy Show was one of the best I’ve seen in many years until Nicki’s performance. It left me with such a disgusted feeling. Her performance was distasteful on so many levels, insulting, and a complete waste of artistic talent. There are many other performers out there that are far more talented and would have given anything for a chance to use that time slot to truly honor what it means to be a part of the Grammy Awards!!!

Saw her open for Britney this past summer and she is just as horrifying and awful in person.

I love when artists do things artistic or different. But this was just crap. It was offensive without being provocative. She went for shock value forgetting there has to be artistic value as well. Fail.

Let me couch this by saying that I am not, nor have I ever been a Niki Minaj fan. I don’t see what all the hype is about. But . . . from an artistic aspect (visually & metaphorically), I thought it was great. I know a lot of ppl will be like WTF Niki. Hell, I said it myself. The Catholic Church will of course be appalled but I say if you don’t want ppl to make fun of you, don’t things that make ppl make fun of you. Don’t expect all women to live in the dark ages when even your own women (members} don’t believe in your sh*t. The Catholic Church is so sensitive as all churches are. So they get all self righteous and indignant and ppl start talking about freedom of religion and war on religion. And Ranisen, christianity and all religion belongs in the dark ages. Believing in magic is just silly no matter who it is. I mean some of this religious stuff is right out of a Friday Night Horror Flick. I was raised a Catholic & I believe a man (let’s call him Jesus) lived and walked the earth preaching. I believe that let’s call him Jesus was probably a very righteous man who inspired ppl to follow him and spread his message, but I don’t believe in all the other crap. This religion thing was created to keep control of the masses and it’s outlived its usefulness. It’s the dark ages’ 99% vs 1%. It has done more to cause war and to divide and discriminate than anything else. Hell Christians discriminate against one another. The Gospel is highly interpretive, so most use their own interpretaion to advance their own agenda. I don’t think lets call him Jesus would even recognize what this christianity thing is today. And if he can’t recognize it as his own, then christians are . . . how should I say this “ass out come judgment day”. And Mr. Edward F. Paisley Park, freedom of religion only means that the government can’t persecute or harass you because of your religion (you are free to practice it). It also means that they can’t persecute or harass you for not believing in religion like some religions have done and still do by calling ppl haters and demons and heathens. And the Grammy’s was not supposed to be about Whitney. It’s a celebration and recognition of the past year’s successes, not the Whitney Houston show. I love me some Whitney Houston songs, but you know what I will forever be seared into my memory of Whitney? Crack is Wack!!!!!! And keep my President out your damn mouth. From what I’ve seen of her work, she’s not a good enough actor to pull off the theatricality it seems she’s going for.

I’m not a big musical fan, but I have seen musical theater performances where the person singing is making it seem necessary. She just seems like she’s doing weird things with her voice while a bunch of people writhe around her.

One wonders if she’s ever had any formal musical theater performance training (it is NOT easy and people do spend lifetimes learning to do it, regardless of my genera patience for it typically).

When Missy Elliot would do this weird stuff, it just seemed more integrated.

Why should the focus be on Whitneys Death? So the world is supposed to stop turning so we can all be upset about the death of an entertainer of us didn’t know? But where there are thousands upon thousands of our Soldiers fighting for us, dying all the time. Where is there award show, where is their acknowledgement. I’m going to assume this was aimed at me; first of all, I am most definitely not a Cafeteria Catholic, and I never said that the content wasn’t “offensive” in and of itself. I simply choose not to get worked up over entertainers who mock my belief system; if I did, I would be worked up the majority of the time. Sure her singing wasn’t the best, but she worked hard for this performance. I Personally actually enjoyed it. It was very creative, but also deep at the same time. It gives me a certain type of chills, and makes me want to listen to more of her music. I would really like to see you people pull of a performance better than hers ;).
