Nicki Minaj Accuses Giuseppe Zanotti Of “Racism”
Nicki Minaj is accusing Giuseppe Zanotti of racism. On Friday, the rapper went off on the shoe designer in a rant on Twitter.
According to Minaj, Zanotti has used her name on a number of his shoes, but has not offered her any financial compensation. What’s more, she claims, is that his company is ignoring her calls. “This is wonderful. #GiuseppeZanotti seems to think it’s ok to name his sneakers after me but his PR says they won’t take our call. Lol,” Minaj wrote in the first of many tweets.
“I met #GiuseppeZanotti years ago. At which time, he told me I inspired him to design a sneaker in my honor. Wore them on the cover of Cosmo,” Minaj shared. “Recently when he gave other artists capsule collections, my agency reached out and was told they’re not taking our call.” Although not mentioned by name by Minaj, Jennifer Lopez is one such star who recently debuted an official collaboration with the brand.
Minaj went on to say, “Just go on google, you’ll see all the different pairs he’s named after me. Lil black girl can inspire u but ain’t worth a collection my nig?” She continued, “#RunMeMyCHECK #GiuseppeWhatsGood I got time today. barbz trend this cuz he gon learn today. The racism & disrespect won’t b tolerated.”
The performer’s fans then did as asked, tweeting “#GiuseppeWhatsGood” to make it a trending topic. “Don’t care about the money. It’s just the disrespect. You’re not taking MY call? Lol. Give some money to charity in my name or smthn,” Minaj further said.
After retweeting messages of support, she added, “U know what I gotta go. My phone ringing. Tell Floyd, Fif & Mike Tyson to book me for the next fight. Me and Giuseppe after cb & Draco.” That last comment was a nod to Chris Brown and Soulja Boy’s feud, and their alleged plans to take their issues into the boxing ring.
Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Zanetti, but has yet to hear back. Minaj has also taken her complaints to Instagram. See below. UPDATE: Minaj has continued to call out the designer on Twitter, and even vowed, “I’ll match whatever you give to #StJudesChildrensHospital up to half a million dollars.”
