Nicki Minaj “Down In The DM” Remix Takes Aim At Miley Cyrus With “What’s Good?”
The rapper appears on a new version of the Yo Gotti track, and makes a reference to her infamous “what’s good?” exchange with Cyrus at last August’s MTV Video Music Awards. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, after Minaj and Taylor Swift briefly feuded over the VMAs, Cyrus questioned the rapper’s “not too kind” actions in an interview released just before she hosted the awards show.
It led to a tense moment on stage, when after winning an award, Minaj shouted, “And now back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?!” Cyrus responded, “We all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate sh*t. Congratuf-*ckinglations, Nicki.” A debate then raged for weeks over whether the flare-up was staged or the two performers really were angry at each other.
Based on Minaj’s latest rhymes, though, it would appear to be the latter. On “Down In The DM” she spits, “I said, ‘Miley what’s good?’/I said, ‘Could you pay my bills like O’Reilly? What’s good?” The rap star may be making another Cyrus reference with the lines, “F*ck you mean?/F*ck your little memes/Even Queen Bey had to tell ’em I’m the queen.”
Cyrus has become known over the last year for posting tons of memes on Instagram. There’s also a “Kylie” reference, but it’s unclear if it’s intended to mean Kylie Jenner. Cyrus and Minaj are pictured above at the 2015 Grammys, which took place months before the dust-up erupted. Listen to “Down In The DM” below. Warning: Explicit content!
