Nicki Minaj, Safaree Samuels Secretly Married And Divorcing?
Nicki Minaj has a divorce pending in New York court? That’s the claim by a website that further alleges Minaj is actually secretly married to Safaree Samuels. But is it true?
According to MediaTakeOut, “Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels are married,” and the court case that she’s alluded to against Samuels on Twitter is actually a “divorce lawsuit.” To explain how only other legitimate outlets missed this supposed scoop the webloid alleges, “All details to the divorce are filed under seal.” What’s more, claims the often unreliable site, “The court’s website shows court dates for the divorce of ‘Samuels vs Samuels’ – which will continue for the next few months.”
MediaFakeOut ends its story by stating, “We have no idea how long Safaree and Nicki were married, or if they have a prenup but it makes sense now why Safaree could be alleging abuse against Nicki.” Actually, that makes no sense nor does the rest of the story because Minaj and Samuels are not nor have ever been married, as far as Gossip Cop can tell.
Actually, Samuels even addressed marriage rumors after he and Minaj split. In a January 2015 interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club,” Samuels said the two never married because “it would’ve been public information. That was the main reason.”
As for MTO’s claim that there’s a court case “for the divorce of ‘Samuels vs Samuels,'” that’s not true. Gossip Cop searched courts across the U.S., and there are no divorce cases for “Samuels vs Samuels,” nor are there any matrimonial actions for Nicki Minaj or her birth name of Onika Maraj.
Of course, Gossip Cop is not remotely surprised that the story is inaccurate. We have repeatedly corrected the webloid for publishing untrue tales about Minaj. Five years ago, we busted the site for wrongly reporting that Minaj was pregnant. Clearly enough time has passed to prove us right.
We also correct MTO when it falsely claimed Minaj was DJ Pauly D were a couple. And just last month, Gossip Cop shot down another report by the site that inaccurately asserted Minaj asked President Obama to pardon brother who was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old child. None of those aforementioned stories were true, and neither is the current one about Minaj and Samuels secretly divorcing.
