Nicki Minaj Blasts Bossip For Questioning Her Rap Skills
Nicki Minaj is slamming Bossip for seemingly questioning her talent.
The issue began when the Bossip Twitter account asked, “#seriousquestion Why aren’t there more mainstream female rappers?” The outlet then retweeted responses from followers, some of which criticized Minaj. And that prompted the star to fire off a number of tweets defending her career.
Minaj began, “I’ve gone toe to toe w/everyone of your favorite male MC’s. To undermine my skill & diversity as an MC is actually comical @ this point.” While the tweet may have seemed random, she went on to be clear about just why she posted the message. “I saw Bossip retweeting ignorance so I figured I’d put that out there. Lol. The greats give me my respect. The great journalists as well,” wrote Minaj.
She then argued, “If a male rapper was on tracks w/Wayne, Jay, Eminem, Kanye, etc going ROUND 4 ROUND he’d b hailed as a GREAT as well. Jealousy is a disease. Not giving me my props doesn’t stop me from being great. I am a mogul. Your hate is what made this possible. Lol. Thank uuuuuu! Mmuuaahhh!!!”
Then, in reference to one of the disparaging messages Bossip had retweeted, Minaj wrote, “To imply someone’s ass is the reason they get on tracks and hold their own with every great MC who is still alive.” She added, “black ppl, do better lol.”
Bossip, however, wasn’t apologetic in the least, and asked Minaj, “We undermined your skill? We must have missed that part…” and “Why is this a black issue @NICKIMINAJ???” The site excused the insults it reposted by writing to Minaj, “Why would you assume that RTs mean we agree?” And the outlet further commented, “Somehow our extremely general question about women rappers has turned into a very specific @NICKIMINAJ conversation. Gotta love this app…”
Minaj’s fans stood by her, with one writing to Bossip, “She dragged you, stop trying to make excuses for your sexist retweets.” That prompted the rapper herself to question, “R the male rappers only successful cuz they have a big bulge?” She went on to tweet, “Your greatest achievement in life will be attempting to undermine my greatest achievements in life. lol. Now check that. Phaedra voice.”
Bossip, though, trolled Minaj by tweeting her lyrics, and later remarked, “Wow, our lil’ question had Nicki hotter than a Middle Eastern climate, violent…” Tell us what YOU think of Twitter spat in the comments below.
