LISTEN: Nicki Minaj Reveals Her Aborted Child Would Be 16 Today In “All Things Go”
Nicki Minaj’s “All Things Go” premiered on Wednesday, and it’s an uncharacteristic heartbreaker from the typically tough rapper. On the track, Minaj reveals a failed engagement, shares regrets about her cousin’s death, and opens up about the child she aborted more than a decade ago. Listen below.
The song, meant to be an intro to Minaj’s new album The Pinkprint, features Minaj saying, “Ten years ago, that’s when you proposed. I look down, yes I suppose.” She goes on about her cousin, “I lost my little cousin to a senseless act of violence. His sister said, he wanted to stay with me, but I didn’t invite him,” adding, “I pop a pill and remember the look in his eyes, the last day he saw me.”
It’s when talking about her little brother Micaiah that Minaj discusses her past pregnancy and abortion. She says, “I want ’Caiah to go to college, just to say ‘We did it!’ My child with Aaron, would’ve have been sixteen, any minute. So in some ways I feel like ’Caiah, is the both of them. It’s like he’s ’Caiah’s little angel, looking over him.”
Minaj herself was around age 15 at the time she got pregnant, something she previously admitted on her song “Autobiography” back in 2008, in which she spoke about the guilt she still felt over the abortion. Now looking toward the future, Minaj says on “All Things Go,” “Cherish these nights, cherish these people. Life is a movie, but there will never be a sequel. And I’m good with that, as long as I’m peaceful. As long as seven years from now, I’m taking my daughter to preschool.”
Fans are already in awe of the deeply-personal song, with one going as far as calling it a “masterpiece” on Twitter. Another tweeted to Minaj, “The fact that we know how private of a person you are. To have u give us something like All Things Go. Wow I love u.” One of Minaj’s “Barbz” wrote, “respect & appreciate @NICKIMINAJ for being as candid & vulnerable as she is on ‘all things go,'” and a different fan tweeted, “all things go is amazing @NICKIMINAJ a painful, and beautiful, glimpse inside your head. some pain nvr goes away but u go on.”
As Gossip Cop reported, The Pinkprint will be released on December 15, featuring collaborations with Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and more big names. Listen to “All Things Go” below, and tell us what you think. Note: Video no longer available.
