Nicki Minaj 2016 VMAs “Wardrobe Malfunction” Claim NOT True
Nicki Minaj did NOT have a “wardrobe malfunction” at the 2016 VMAs on Sunday, despite a sensational report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story.
Minaj infamously had an outfit mishap at the 2014 VMAs, when she couldn’t get her costume zipped fast enough during a quick wardrobe change as she gave an opening performance with Ariana Grande and Jessie J. Now, according to MediaTakeOut, she suffered another faux pas at this year’s event. A headline exclaims, “Nicki Minaj Just SOLIDIFIED HER SPOT… As Baddest Chick In The Game… With Her WARDROBE MALFUNCTION LAST NIGHT At The VMAs!!!”
“Nicki Minaj is the BADDEST in the world — and she left NO DOUBT of that fact last night,” says the accompanying story. “Beyonce looked great, so did Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian and the rest – but NO ONE was as magnificent as Nicki Minaj. No one.”
The site continues, “And just to give her fans a little extra, Nicki wore a very SEXT dress that she must have known would RIDE UP on her at some point in the evening. And the paparazzi was there to SNAP THE PICS.” And so, the webloid points to pictures of Minaj on the red carpet.
Except nothing “rode up.” Yes, the rapper wore a dress that had sheer panels. And yes, at times the see-through fabric moved dangerously close to exposing Minaj’s privates.
But it never actually happened. Absolutely nothing can be seen in the photos posted by MediaFakeOut. Gossip Cop isn’t surprised the bad blog saw something that wasn’t there. It was less than two weeks ago that the outlet also falsely claimed Vanessa Hudgens had a “wardrobe malfunction,” and on purpose, too. Just like with Minaj, nothing of the sort actually happened.
