Nick Jonas Zayn Malik Interview

(Entertainment Tonight)

Nick Jonas knows a thing or two about what Zayn Malik is going through. And, believe it or not, he also sympathizes with One Direction fans who are upset with the singer for leaving his band. Watch the video below.

Before One Direction become THE group for tweens, teens, and yes, even some adults, there was the Jonas Brothers. Nick and his brothers, Joe and Kevin, graced magazine covers, sold out arenas, and conquered both music and television. But when the trio announced their breakup in 2013, fans were devastated. Some even suggested that the youngest Jonas was to blame, because he wanted to work on a solo career.

So, with all the talk of Malik’s personal struggles, questions about his future, and some very negative reactions, Jonas says he gets the predicament his fellow performer is in. “It’s a lot of pressure,” Jonas tells “Entertainment Tonight. “I think that my situation was a little unique. I had family with me, and I feel like it is a tough world already, and I was thankful to have family and walk through it with them.”

“But it’s all about how you balance it, and trying to implement a few moments of normalcy and quietness in a really crazy ride,” says Jonas. “I feel for their fans, and totally understand him as well, and what he’s going through, but all the best to all of them.” Jonas spoke about Malik while rehearsing for this weekend’s Kids’ Choice Awards. The star is hosting the ceremony, and while One Direction is nominated for Favorite Music Group, the band will not be in attendance.

After the news of Malik’s departure broke Wednesday, Jonas tweeted, “Sometimes you have to make hard choices in order to find your true happiness.” Check out the video below, and tell us what you think of his comments.
