Nick Jonas “Goat” Interview On “Today Show” – WATCH VIDEO!
Nick Jonas opened up about his new movie Goat and his mixed feelings on fraternities during an interview on Monday’s “Today” show. Watch below!
Jonas stars in the new film as a fraternity-minded college student pushing his younger brother through a brutal hazing process. “I think the ffirst thing that stood out to me was the relationship between the brothers, something I can relate to,” Jonas told Matt Lauer. But he also found it to be “just an amazing story about masculinity and what that looks like today.”
The movie does not give the most flattering portrayal of fraternities, but Jonas insists it isn’t entirely anti-frat. He explained, “All of us were really conscious of making sure that we didn’t make a movie that was an indictment of fraternity culture, because there’s a lot of good things in it.” Still, he acknowledged, “What I saw is that when you get a bunch of young men together, without any real consequences for their actions, it is kind of a battle to be alpha, be the best. And bad things happen.”
“My little brother [Frankie Jonas] started college this year, and I said, ‘Look, man. Before you decide to pledge a fraternity, I’d like you to see this movie,'” Jonas went on to share. “Just as a bit of an educational tool [showing] the worst case scenario.”
Naturally, Lauer also asked Jonas if there’s any chance of working again with his real-life brothers. Noting that “Joe’s doing really well with his band right now, DNCE” and Kevin’s “doing really well with his new business,” with a pregnant wife to boot, he answered, “I think everyone’s happy on their own. We’re family first and that’s the key for us right now.” Check out the full interview below.
