Nick Gordon To Pay $36 Million For Bobbi Kristina Brown Wrongful Death
As Gossip Cop reported in September, Gordon was found responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown after he failed to appear in court. In the wrongful death suit, Gordon was accused of beating Brown before she was found unconscious and face down in a bathtub in her Atlanta-area home. The lawsuit alleged Brown administered injected a “toxic” amount of drugs into Brown before placing her into the icy tub. He was further accused of transferring money from her bank account into his own.
On Thursday, Judge T. Jackson Bedford Jr., who presided over the wrongful death suit, ordered Gordon to pay a little more than $36 million in restitution to Brown’s estate, the sum of which includes $15,000,000 for loss of life, $1,370,000 for assault and battery, $13,000,000 for pain and suffering, $1,575,000 million for money and rings allegedly stolen, and nearly $4,500,000 in punitive damages. Gordon was not in court when the judgement came down.
After the ruling, David Ware, a lawyer for the Brown estate, said in a statement, “There was an urgent need, in my mind, to get justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown… We intend to pursue, with all vigor, the full collection of the judgement. The Defendant will not escape justice nor ever profit from his misdeeds. We hope that in some small way this will allow Krissy’s family to continue their quest for peace.”
