Nick Carter Joins “Dancing With The Stars”
Nick Carter is joining “Dancing with the Stars,” it was announced on Wednesday.
The official “Dancing with the Stars” Twitter account tweeted, “We’re not playing games with your heart – @NickCarter is on this season of #dwts!” The Backstreet Boys also posted, “Give it up for @nickcarter joining @DancingABC this season!! Let’s help get him that trophy…. #NickCarterDWTS.”
And Carter, with a clip of him dancing over the years, wrote on Twitter, “You ain’t seen nothing yet. #DWTS @DancingABC #NickCarterDWTS.” Carter is now the third celebrity revealed for the upcoming 21st season. He’ll be competing alongside Bindi Irwin, Victor Espinoza, and 10 more stars still to be announced.
While Carter already has some dance experience through the Backstreet Boys, there’s actually a boy band precedent on “Dancing with the Stars.” Drew Lachey of 98 Degrees won the ABC ballroom competition back during season 2 in 2006, while *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone was the runner-up during 2007’s season four, and they both returned for the All-Star 15th season. And, of course, Carter’s little brother Aaron Carter participated in season 9 in 2009, placing fifth.
Will the older Carter do better? Will he also be paired with Karina Smirnoff? That remains to be seen. “There’s a lot of competitiveness in me and I think there’s a little something inside of me that says, ‘Okay, I’m going to go there and represent the Carter name and do even better than what he did,'” Carter tells Us Weekly in his first interview about joining the series.
Carter further reveals this is the fifth year in a row producers have asked him to join the show, and it was former rival Fatone that helped convince him to finally sign on. The new season begins on September 14. TELL US: What do you think of Carter competing on “Dancing with the Stars”?
