Nick Cannon: Why I Enrolled At Howard University
Nick Cannon enrolled as a full-time student at Howard University, Gossip Cop learned Monday, and now the performer has revealed why he’s going back to school as a 35-year-old freshman. Find out the reason below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Cannon joined Howard University’s Class of 2020, and will work his class schedule around his professional obligations, which includes hosting duties on “America’s Got Talent.” The entertainer released a statement on Tuesday in which he quoted Nelson Mandela as saying, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” and added, “With that said I have officially enrolled at Howard University.” He further explained, “I am always seeking new challenges and continual growth and decided to obtain my first college degree from an institution that had a proven legacy of producing great minds.”
Cannon went on to note he has “friends, mentors and colleagues who attended Howard University,” and has also “heard about the famed Howard Homecoming since I was a kid growing up in California and knew that Howard would be the perfect place for me to further my education.” He concluded, “I look forward to this new journey in my life and am excited about the possibilities ahead.”
Howard University President Wayne A. I. Frederick also released a statement regarding Cannon’s enrollment, expressing that the school is “honored to have Nick Cannon as a member of the Class of 2020.”
