UPDATE: Nick Cannon Transferred To L.A. Hospital For Kidney Failure Treatment

Nick Cannon, still ailing from kidney failure, will continue to receive medical care in Los Angeles.

“Currently being transfered [sic] to a hospital in LA,” he tweeted late Wednesday afternoon.

Cannon was originally being treated in Aspen, Colorado, where he and wife Mariah Carey were vacationing with their kids.

Carey revealed her husband’s condition Wednesday morning.

Along with a photo of her comforting her husband in his hospital bed, she tweeted, “Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure.”

In a post on her blog, Carey told fans, “We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am on the bed with Mr. C.”

Carey joked, “We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”#DramaticDivaPlace,” adding, “But the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK… please keep us and our family in your prayers.”

    that’s called being a concerned spouse I’m sure he did the same thing for her after the twins were born last spring she’s scared of losing her husband and the father of her beautiful children. nobody said anything even slightly negative when Joanne Woodward did simillar things for Paul Newman while he was being treated for the lung cancer that eventually took his life. her asking the fans for prayers is normal and she knows we will we did for her through her pregnancy with the twins that nearly cost her and them their lives. worst way to start the new year ever

    I was so relieved to read Mariah say it is “mild” kidney failure and that he is recovering from it. I feared reading the headline that this might be leading to a needed kidney transplant. I so enjoy Nick Cannon as host on America’s Got Talent. And Mariah’s music, wow. And from what I see he loves Mariah and visa versa. And, oh my, their two cutie pie babies. Although I have no idea about their personal relationship, I get the feeling they are genuine in their love for one another. They seem to be a compatible couple. Complimenting each other. So I truly believe her love and attention will go a long way to helping Nick heal. My wishes for a speedy recovery sincerely sent.

    @Guest nobody here but people other places including eonline among others is what I was railing against as I’ve been a fan of Mariah’s her entire career and even met her once. as I said in my first reply earlier he did the same thing for her after the twins were born

    Well, there is no such thing, medically, as “mild” kidney failure. My guess is, having had kidney problems myself, is he probably is a “stoner” (develops kidney stones) due to poor hydration, got a large stone and it blocked one of his ureters, causing infection. Not to be laughed at. It makes everything back up into the kidney and will make you sick like a dawg, not to mention very painful to pass the damn things. These conditions WILL cause kidney damage if left over time and, if infected, are life-threatening. Nick needs to get on a kidney stoner diet (no grapes, no spinach, no chocolate, etc.) and drink LOTS and LOTS of fluids each and every day. I hope he recovers quickly. Best of luck to them both.

    When I read “mild” kidney failure I wondered if Mariah really meant Nick had “acute kidney failure” Likely she was told it was a less serious form vs had he had chronic kidney failure that could lead to needing lifelong dialysis / kidney transplant That’s why I put it in quotes, as these were Mariah’s words and I didn’t want to start something saying she got it wrong.

    Who knows what she was told, or how it was explained to her so she’d understand, or how she was interpreting what she was told. However, because reportedly he was going to be better soon, made me think the failure could be reversed and made me think he perhaps had an infection that affected his kidney functioning. Nevertheless, whatever the diagnosis, it is a relief that he’d be recovering. P.S. I have had kidney stones but “luckily” have not had any large enough to block the ureter yet…
