Nicholas Hoult Talks Love Scenes With Kristen Stewart In “Equals”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Hoult and Stewart play forbidden lovers in the upcoming movie, which takes place in a futuristic society where emotions have been banned. Because of that, their blossoming romance must remain hidden. And that in turn ends up leading to a lot of erotic moments as the two try to handle their impulses.
Stewart didn’t attend the Tribeca event, but Hoult was asked about their provocative scenes. The actor gave props to their director, Drake Doremus, noting he had “a wonderful way of working those scenes.” Hoult explained to Vulture, “It’s a lot of improvisation. You’ll be certain that [there’ll’ be literally no one in the room with you when you do long takes — 20 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, who knows how long. They’ll just be the sound operator and the camera operator in there with us.”
And it was the improvisation, with occasional advice from Doremus, that fueled the actual filming. “Drake will stick his head in occasionally and whisper a little note or something and then Kristen and I would carry on,” Hoult recalled. “In a way, it’s very weird to do that type of scene. It was actually very weird the first time I watched the film. I was like, wow, that’s me, but I feel I shouldn’t be watching it.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Hoult and Stewart attended the movie’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last year (see photo above). The film, which will be available through DirecTV on May 26, will hit theaters on July 15.
