Niall Horan NOT Leaving One Direction; Twitter Hacking Leads To WRONG Rumor
Niall Horan is NOT leaving One Direction. Fans were confused and panicked late Sunday and early Monday after a number of outlets picked up on tweets by the usually reliable outlets Sugarscape and Yahoo! Celebrity UK claiming Horan had quit the boy band. “Niall has left One Direction!!” tweeted the latter, in a message that was circulated thousands of times.
But the rumor is 100 percent FALSE. Horan did not quit One Direction. It turns out both Sugarscape and Yahoo! Celebrity UK were hacked. “So while we were fast asleep, it turns out some dickhead hacked our account. VERY sorry for any heart attacks caused,” explained Sugarscape on Monday, later adding, “Just to confirm, Niall is NOT leaving One Direction.” Meanwhile, Yahoo! Celebrity UK clarified, “Morning everyone. Just so you know, Niall Horan isn’t in fact leaving 1D, our account was hacked last night. We repeat, Niall isn’t leaving.”
Horan himself hasn’t commented on the hack-fueled wrong rumor, but thousands of fans provided their own serious and not-so-serious theories for the alleged parting of ways by using the Twitter trend #ReasonsNiallLeftOneDirection. It’s still atop the worldwide trending topics, even though Horan is staying put, leading fans who did not see Sugarscape and Yahoo! Celebrity UK’s explanatory tweets to believe that there’s truth to the reports. And so the wrong rumor continues to spread.
