WATCH: NFL Crisis Mocked In Saturday Night Live Cold Open
The NFL crisis was spoofed in the “Saturday Night Live” cold open during the show’s season premiere, with “SNL” host Chris Pratt playing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The bit started with CNN’s Candy Crowley (Aidy Bryant) addressing the NFL’s problems on her show “State of the Union.” She explained, “Recent incidents of abuse from Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson have taken a toll on the league.” She noted, “Now I’ll confess. I don’t know a lot about football. My Sunday’s are reserved for ‘Candy Time.’ I read Nora Roberts novels while a crack team of Korean ladies rehabilitate my feet, but even I know this league is in trouble.”
The premise of the bit was that Crowley was trying to get answers about the legal problems of football players, but instead got ridiculous answers. Pratt as Goodell had a hard time explaining his initiative, “Take Back The Night: We Fight 4 Women,” having left out key words when discussing it, saying things like, “We fight women.”
The cold open kicked off the 40th season of “Saturday Night Live.” Check out the video below, and tell us what you think.
