New Kids On The Block Weigh In On Zayn Malik Leaving One Direction (VIDEO)
Donnie Wahlberg and other members of New Kids On The Block weighed in on Zayn Malik leaving One Direction. Having gone through a similar experience with Jon Knight, Wahlberg explained how difficult it is when a member of a close-knit boyband quits the group. See the video below.
“It’s really heartbreaking,” Wahlberg told Yahoo! before noting, “Like when Bobby Brown left New Edition, like when Jon Knight left New Kids, but only to return more triumphant.” Wahlberg, of course, was referring to when Knight rejoined New Kids On The Block four years after quitting the boy band. He then joked, “Don’t fret, One Direction fans! Zayn may return one day.”
Wahlberg also referenced Kevin Richardson’s return to the Backstreet Boys after a two-year hiatus. “Look at the possibilities,” added Joe McIntyre, “He could come back, he could not come back!”
While the members of New Kids On The Block can empathize with the stress Malik said he was feeling, Wahlberg felt it all needs to be put in perspective.” Pressure is not being able to pay your mortgage and feed your children,” he said. “That’s pressure. Being in a boy band, it’s a busy time. You get tired, you work your butts off, whatever. You’re not digging ditches and jacking sidewalks and carrying heavy boxes around.” McIntyre further remarked, “There’s no test results in boy bands.” Watch the interview below, and tell us what you think about New Kids On The Block’s take on Zayn Malik.
