NeNe Leakes NOT “Fired” From “To Tell The Truth,” Despite Claim
NeNe Leakes was NOT “fired” from “To Tell The Truth,” despite a claim from a certain webloid. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight and reveal what’s really going on with the game show.
Last June, ABC brought back “To Tell The Truth” as one of several reworked classic game shows. With Anthony Anderson serving as the host, Leakes appeared as one of the reboot’s main panelists, alongside Betty White and Jalen Rose. The second season is now slated to premiere on January 1.
But, according to MediaTakeOut, the reason Leakes won’t be a part of it is because she was “fired.” Their headline announces, “SAD NEWS Y’ALL!! NeNe Leakes Just Got FIRED From Her ‘GAME SHOW’ Job… She’s Now Officially… UNEMPLOYED!!!” The site, however, doesn’t have any information to back up its claim.
Rather, the outlet merely copied and pasted one of the network’s press releases about the upcoming episodes. MTO then added at the very bottom, “One person who will NOT be returning, not even as a celebrity panelist guest, is NeNe Leakes. We’re told that she’s been FIRED!!”
But again, MediaFakeOut has no evidence to support the allegation. In fact, its article fails to mention that ABC changed the format of the show for the new season, and there are now NO regular panelists. Instead, there will be a new panel of judges on each installment, much like on ABC’s “Match Game.”
To interpret that as Leakes getting “fired,” well, that would mean White and Rose were “fired,” too, which isn’t true. What’s more, though, is that Leakes still has ties to the program. A rep for the star exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “NeNe was invited back to be part of the show but due to conflicts was unable to take part in the filming cycle.”
Should “To Tell The Truth” be renewed for a third season, fans very well may see Leakes on their screens again. Obviously, that wouldn’t be the case if she was “fired.”
