Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Finally Set to Wed

With the passage of same-sex marriage in New York, Neil Patrick Harris is finally set to wed David Burtka.

The couple, who have twins together, proposed to each other more than five years ago, explains Harris on Twitter.

“We’ve been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date,” he tweeted today.

Before the historic vote late last night, Harris was on Twitter to voice his support for a very personal cause.

“I’d sure love to get married. Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today,” wrote Harris. “My family would really appreciate it.”

Fortunately for Harris and Burtka, the measure got the necessary votes.

The actor was thrilled.

“It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!”
