Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Join American Horror Story: Freak Show!
Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka are together officially joining the cast of “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the couple, who wed last month in Italy,” will guest star in the final episodes of the FX show’s terrifying fourth season.
Harris will play a “chameleon salesman” in the last two episodes, while Burtka will have a ” sexy storyline” with Jessica Lange’s character Elsa Mars in the series finale, reports TVLine. Harris has been candid about his desire to join the series, previously admitting that he had written a letter to the show’s creator Ryan Murphy asking for a cameo on “Freak Show.”
Harris, who will host the 2015 Oscars, recently revealed that he and Burtka had actually turned down an offer to star in the first season of the series because they had just finished playing an unhappy couple in A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and felt the roles on “American Horror Story: Murder House” were too similar. “We had just played ourselves as a couple not getting along, and I thought, ‘It just seems weird to do that twice, as individual actors to play a couple that hate each other twice,” Harris said in a SiriusXM interview. “So I said ‘No,’ that we shouldn’t do it.” He continued, “Then wouldn’t you know, ‘America Horror Story’ is a big gigantic success and super awesome. We are big followers and fans of that show. Fingers crossed, we may get to be on it some day.”
Harris and Burtka’s wishes have come true. The couple will be starring alongside this season’s regulars, including Lange, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and John Carroll. Are you excited to see Harris and Burtka on “American Horror Story: Freak Show”?
