Donald Trump’s flirtation with a bid for the White House was ended by the network that carries his show “The Apprentice,” says NBC chief Bob Greenblatt.
At NBC’s Television Critics Association session on Sunday, Greenblatt was asked about Trump’s comments throughout the presidential race and whether the network thought about trying to rein him in.
“We live in this country where you can sort of say anything you want as long as you’re not harming people. He’s got a political belief system and we talk to him all the time, but I really don’t think that what he’s doing in his personal life is going to corrupt what’s happening on the show,” said Greenblatt.
“That said, if he sort of becomes somehow hurtful or says or does things that cross a line, I guess we would figure out what to do about that,” he further noted.
Greenblatt went on to claim that NBC had a hand in Trump not seeking the highest office in the land.
“We talked him out of running for president,” said the NBC honcho, adding jokingly, “Wasn’t that good enough?”
