One of Hollywood’s biggest mysteries - Natalie Wood‘s 1981 death – may be solved yet.

The L.A. County Sheriff Department announced on Thursday that it is reopening its investigation into the legendary actress’ drowning, after being contacted by individuals who claim to have new information about what happened.

Wood died while boating off California’s Santa Catalina Island with her husband, Robert Wagner, and her co-star, Christopher Walken.

Her death was ruled an accident at the time, but rumors of foul play have swirled for 30 years.

The Sheriff is set to hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. Pacific on Friday.

Wood was 43 when she died and had starred in movies including West Side Story, Rebel Without a Cause and Splendor in the Grass.

I was living in Las Vegas at that time .. And just a few nights prior they were ALL partying it up there (at the Sand’s . Copa Room). And it is just my personal opinion .. but, (I think), it was just a “sign of the times”. They . (All of the brat pack) , had no regard for themselves or others. LITERALLY. I am imaging that they had NO idea of what was going to happen or even aware she was over board . .. And they probably are VERY sorry they did NOT react. I saw her prior to this accident and I would say .. She was probably worse then MOST of the men. No one should swim when totally wasted. She wanted their attention and didn’t understand why they didn’t give her their undivided. ( Betcha they are wishin they would have NOW). And FYI .. the “brat pack” included Peter Lawford (sp?), Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, and sometimes Joey Bishop … Robert Wagner. Whoever wanted to party. And they DIDN’T treat women very well. (oh yeah .. and Kennedy’s too). I wasn’t there .. but I TOO find it a little odd that YEARS .. YEARS later. the ship captain wants to tell… WELL … Wouldn’t he be just as guilty for letting it happen ? I am with YOU .. FEDUP .. Why after all these years ? Gheesh .. Leave it alone .. I am sure they, (everyone on board), have nightmares about what they shoulda.. coulda done that night. She was a beauty and an extraordinary talent. She deserved better than the clan she choose to hang with. Think I will go out and rent a movie with her.I want to remember her beauty and I don’t think this “accident” needs rehashing. Stop it !
