Nastia Liukin Earns Highest Score On Week Two Of Dancing With The Stars (VIDEO)
Nastia Liukin earned the highest score during the second week of competition on “Dancing With the Stars” season 20, thanks to a sensual rumba. For the show’s “My Jam Monday” theme, Liukin and partner Derek Hough danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” Both the audience and judges were astounded by their performance (video below).
Julianne Hough kicked off the praise, saying that the Olympic gold medalist was probably the “most naturally gifted” contestant in terms of technique. She called the gymnast’s routine “incredible for week two” and “beautiful.” Bruno Tonioli said Liukin had “marvelous motion,” and noted that her “flow was flawless.” Carrie Ann Inaba was practically speechless, but finally mustered, “The quality of motion was speculator.” And Len Goodman gushed, “It was clean. It was crisp… It was fantastic.”
The week before Liukin and Hough came in a respectable third place with 30 points in total. But in week two, the pair stepped it up, being the first team to receive scores of 9s, and a total of 34 out of 40 points.
