Naomi Campbell Remembers George Michael On “The View” (VIDEO)
Campbell appeared on the talk show to promote her role on the new FOX show, “Star.” But after she came on stage, co-host Sunny Hostin brought up Michael’s Christmas Day death. The supermodel, of course, famously starred in the singer’s “Freedom 90” music video in 1990.
“We all [shot it] different days,” Campbell recalled. “Linda [Evangelista] and Christy [Turlington] were together. I was the first day, coming from a Thierry Mugler show, which we did five shows from 6:30 a.m. in the morning to 3 a.m. the next morning. And then had to fly on the first flight out, Paris to London, and go straight to set.”
She continued, “I was exhausted, but I was so happy to be there and work with [director] David Fincher and so happy that George chose the five of us from the British Vogue cover that we did. We were all singing the song anyway, because we loved the song.”
Campbell said she’s “very sad” over Michael’s passing, and confirmed they had kept in touch over the years. She also shared the “special moment” they had backstage at the closing ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics, where Michael performed. As Gossip Cop reported, “The View” also paid tribute to Michael and other celebrities we recently lost on Tuesday’s show. Check out Campbell’s full interview below.
