VIDEO: Nancy Grace And 2 Chainz Have Epic Debate About Legalizing Pot
As you might guess, the rapper was in favor of pot becoming legal in all 50 states. He noted that minor drug offenses can prevent people from getting jobs and loans, and suggested that legalization could ease overcrowding in prisons and help the economy, saying taxpayer money would be freed up if people weren’t unnecessarily being prosecuted. Grace argued the opposite perspective, and tried to prove her point by bizarrely citing a few incidents in which young children encountered weed thanks to some reckless parents. Even more bizarrely, 2 Chainz responded by saying the dad in one video was likely using pot just because he couldn’t get crack.
2 Chainz repeatedly called for personal responsibility, and likened Grace’s videos to instances to alcohol abuse, suggesting that some people but not all misuse alcohol despite there seeming to be a high number of examples. But Grace told him, “Everybody is not ‘responsible,’ 2 Chainz. Everybody should not have free access to go get pot like you go get orange juice at the grocery store.”
Grace went on later, “You say that there are reasonable people that can smoke pot, use pot, and they won’t involve their children. Nobody else is gonna get hurt. But what about these people? That’s what makes me keep arguing this to you.” He responded, “You will find some footage like this, but everybody’s not doing this. Some people actually love their child. Some people know that this is obviously wrong. So this is nothing to really to argue about. These people are imbeciles. You can’t use this case to define a whole community.”
The TV personality, who praised the performer for his intelligence, showed clips of his wild music videos throughout the discussion, and also tried using some of his rap lyrics about weed against him. 2 Chainz, meanwhile, said his personal use of marijuana helps with his anxiety over having “shows in front of 50, 60,000 people,” and went on to list some of the other medicinal benefits.
And in the midst of it all, Grace stopped at one point to ask 2 Chainz about the meaning behind his stage name, saying she’s “just curious.” They also talked over each other a lot. The pair parted on good terms, though, with the music star tweeting afterward, “hey @NancyGraceHLN thanks for having me today!! We should make this a monthly thing what ya think?.” She replied, “.@2chainz you’re on. I’m gonna talk u out of this pot thing. Ps. I don’t think that’s a real rolex u have on. #Pot2Blame?”
2 Chainz further posted on Instagram, “We still cool! That was a great debate thanks Nancy…bill o Reilly U up next!” Check out the clips below. What do you think of their debate?
