As Gossip Cop has reported, “AGT” is finishing up the season 11 Judge Cuts. The round has all the acts who made it past the auditions return for call-backs in hopes of now making it to the live shows. Now, on the fourth and final installment, Musicality had to shine and stand apart from 19 other acts.
The inner-city high school choir from the southside of Chicago already impressed during the “AGT” auditions when they sang One Direction. Coincidentally, Louis Tomlinson was now serving as the Judge Cuts guest judge. And emotions were high as the group revealed the struggles they’ve faced since their audition, including the murder of one student’s sister.
Those feelings were now poured into a moving rendition of Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper,” and several of the members were in tears by the end of the performance. “It’s incredible to watch you guys perform,” Tomlinson told them afterward. “The unity and the love you have for each other is so infectious. It was really, really nice.”
Howie Mandel said, “I love what I hear and it’s beautiful.” Mel B told them, “I love everything about you guys. I love what you stand for. I love what you do. And I am going to be rooting for you, too.” And Simon Cowell asked what making it to the finals would mean for the students.
The choir’s director responded, “It would mean hope is alive for urban youth in America.” Cowell said that was a “good answer,” and added, “I always got to believe you’ve got reward people who are prepared to work hard. I think people are going to be rooting for you, and I’m going to be rooting for you.”
When they left the stage, Cowell could be heard telling his fellow panelists, “You can’t not like these people. I think they’re what this show is about.” Check out the video below!
