Morgan Freeman is new voice of CBS Evening News

Almost six months after Walter Cronkite’s passing on July 17, his legendary voice will no longer be heard on “CBS Evening News.”
Tonight, Cronkite’s introduction to Katie Couric’s evening broadcast was replaced with a new voiceover by Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman.
Cronkite’s intro was recorded when Couric took over the anchoring duties in 2006.
Besides it being kind of creepy having the late news veteran still announcing the “CBS Evening News,” using Freeman now allows the network to have different introductions should Couric host a special or be on location.
