Morgan Freeman is NOT dead.

A tweet claiming to come from CNN shook up the Internet this afternoon with the announcement, “Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home.”

But the information was NOT true, and it did NOT come from CNN.

After the fake death notice swept through Twitter, CNN was forced to tweet, “CNN did not report Morgan Freeman death. Rumor is false. CNN will aggressively investigate this hoax.”

These hoaxes have happened many times before.

They’re not funny. They’re not cool. They’re not entertaining.

Gossip Cop hopes whoever thinks it’s amusing to start these dreadful rumors finds a better hobby.
