“Posh Making Play for Permanent Idol Post?” ran an exclusive from E! Online.

The supposed proof that Victoria Beckham was well on her way to becoming Paula Abdul’s permanent replacement on “American Idol”? She joined the other judges on a flight to Boston for a round of auditions. Once the media caught wind of Beckham’s jet setting, they began to run with the story that the former Spice Girl was all but guaranteed the fourth judge’s chair.

Well, here’s Gossip Cop’s judgment: Not true.

While Beckham is doing a second guest gig, and “may come back,” according to her London-based rep, she is definitely not looking to make this a permanent commitment. “She’s just taking a guest role,” the rep tells Gossip Cop, adding that Beckham is “concentrating on her fashion collection” that she’ll be presenting at the New York shows in September.

Sorry, but “Posh is the new Paula” rumors just don’t make the cut.
